Location: the monumental object of the railway station from the 1950s as a new platform of art and culture. BANSKA ST A NICA is not a culture centre within the city bustle, but a background for the creation in silence interrupted 6-times a day by the coming local train. Relatively young organization Štokovec, a space for culture (founded in the spring 2008) runs out of the elite centre of Bratislava on so-called culture periphery in Banská Štiavnica (160 km from Bratislava the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, 120 km from the capital of Hungary, Budapest and 180 km from Krakow).Since summer 2009 our activities are embedded in the railway station space, which we gradually revitalize to become the vivid centre of art focused on studio and residential stays of domestic as well as foreign artists.
